Paper Blankets
2025
Stacks and stacks accumulate of items tossed or held onto for safe keeping. Maybe they’re to bring you comfort but maybe they don’t. My Paper Blankets series this year explores this and questions what is; the things that are supposed to bring you comfort; paper blankets, stacks of things, heirlooms, people, places, or things; how these things can feel more like weights rather than warm blankets. Examining this and continuing to strip down to simplicity, form, shape, and color, and maybe looking for something or chasing something in the simplicity of a time that once was, in an object that brought comfort, recreating or holding onto to let go. Questioning what is art, what is love, spelling things out in a culture that seems overrun with consumerism and the norm. These stacks of recycled materials, stacks of plaster cups, stacks of stitched paper all hold onto the accumulative collections of time, carrying these stories and weights and weave in the narratives to connect the unknown answers.
Holding two things at once, they hold and let go.
