At AV Abstract Studio, we prioritize process and materiality, and engage you, the viewer, with pieces that speak to authenticity; the parts of ourselves that show the hard edges, unpolished and unapologetic bits, and raw, simple beauty. We intertwine fragility with strength, individuality with connection, and invite you to look closer to each piece to define what parts of you hold true.

The Artist
Multi-disciplinary artist, Amy Vidra, transforms every day materials into rich narratives that explore the complex and often contradictory commentary we are told from family of origin, media, society, or self-created dialogue. The combination and dichotomy of materials of hard and soft, simple and complex, transforms these narratives through intuitive process and real time decisions, stitched, layered, or woven, often influenced by the here and now rhetoric. With this play on past and present, the dialogue takes on new meaning, connections and interplay, inviting the viewer to also engage, reflect and interweave their own experiences and dialogue.
Through focusing on minute details and at times a raw, neutral palette, stitching or the meditative role of weaving, Vidra’s work evokes a sense of calm, organized reflections, incorporating eco-every day materials into layered transformed perceptions, quiet powerful voices, and vessels of her perceptions of self and the spaces surrounding us.
